What a year 2016 has been for me! I worked hundreds of hours to provide clients with photos they would absolutely love. I strived for perfection and the best I can possibly do for every session I shot and edited and I'm so grateful anytime a client chooses me to capture these important times for them.

In March I was approached by Newstyle Media to shoot the first cover of their new magazine "Nest". This was incredible as they found my page on Instagram and loved the style and feel of my photos. They also chose my boy, Jordan to be on the cover which was fabulous. I'm not sure how many opportunities exist for a photographer to shoot a magazine cover with their own child on the cover. It was amazing and I learnt a lot about creating a magazine cover with a range of requirements and capturing the feel they wanted to achieve for it. I also had to pay Jordan in ice cream and a few other things but that's another story :)

I won 6 awards at the Australian Institute of Professional Photography Awards (SA) and then 2 at the AIPP Australian awards and my work was judged alongside the best photographers in the country.

I finished building a fantastic baby photography studio within my home that is beautiful, comfortable for families who visit and well planned so clients can enjoy all I have to offer at their sessions. I worked incredibly hard to purchase a Nikkor 200mm f2 lens so that I have the best equipment money can buy for my outdoor work and invested in many props and backdrops so my clients can have uniquely styled photos, every session.

With photography, photographers need to constantly evolve and learn. This year I spent a day in Melbourne with Leah Robinson, a fantastic children's photographer and this greatly improved my work with children's photography and my editing of outdoor sessions. I attended Kelly Brown's Baby Summit in Tweed Heads for 3 days of classes covering all things relevant to my business. I also spent a day with Russian photographer Elena Shumilova at her workshop in Adelaide and learnt how she works and interacts with older children, how she composes her photos and brings exceptional story telling into her photographs. I constantly seek training so I can provide excellence in my photographs for my clients. Running a professional business requires just that.

I wish to thank all of my wonderful clients this year for entrusting me with their sessions, many booking for the second or third times. I cannot wait to meet all of the families I have booked for 2017 and provide you with stunning, precious memories through my photography.

:) Verity
